Sculpted Custom Coins

The Benefits of Printed Resin
3D resin-printed coins created from depth map models (like the accompanying image) offer significant advantages over metal coins, particularly in customization, prototyping speed, detail resolution, and weight, making them ideal for business cards, gaming tokens and event tokens. Resin coins offer the kind of 3D depth that metal stamping is unable to match. Stamped coins can not be pressed enough to offer similar bas relief. High-resolution 3D sculpted designs, such as sculpted figures or intricate, multi-layered custom coins, are quickly challenging metal coins on many different fronts.
While metal coin durability is never questioned. Resin printed coin durability, although not as indestructive as metal, offers the same pratical life span and finish durability.
Die Costs
Stamping metal coins require a die (often two: one for the obverse and one for the reverse) to create the raised and recessed design on a blank metal disc, known as a planchet. These hardened steel dies are engraved with a reverse image, allowing the coin's design to appear properly when struck under high pressure. The cost of the dies are usually over $100.
Bas Relief
Traditional stamped metal coins cannot exhibit bas-relief as high as that obtainable by 3D resin printing. Stamped coins max out at about 1mm depth. 3D resin coins do not have this limitation. A thick, 4mm resin coin offers enough depth to create a 3D coin. Considerably more impressive than a simple embossed coin (like a quarter).
Lightweight Matters
3D resin-printed business cards, event tokens, and other handouts are light enough to carry in a purse or front pocket without noticing.
Unlike paper, 3D-printed resin is rigid and resistant to bending or tearing. Business cards and tokens also have a perceived value that keeps them from ending up in the round file or from being mixed in with other business cards or paper products. They simply stand out more.
Cost Effective
While offering a premium feel, small-scale production allows for affordable customization compared to mass-produced metal coins and tokens. This translates to lower shipping costs as well.
